Outreach Ministries at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church

Our outreach ministry is designed to reach others who do not attend church regularly or are not accustomed to the "conventional" way of religion.  For many this means that they do not yet have a relationship with God through Christ.  For others it means that at one time they were very active in church but are unable to attend due to debilitating ailments or illness which keep them sick, shut-in or homebound.  For some this may mean that they are more welcoming to the Word of God while faced with the practical challenges of living in this world.

All outreach at Mount Zion is based on the scriptural foundation that Christ fulfilled in Luke 4.18 when he quoted Isaiah the prophet in saying, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me and has anointed me to preach the gospel..."  We believe that the Spirit of God is upon us as a congregation and that he has anointed us (given us the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit and has allowed the ministry of Christ to rest upon us as with all churches of the Lord) to preach the gospel, the news of Christ birth, life, death, burial, resurrection and ascension into heaven and the expectation of His glorious return.  This is done in ways the Lord has given us to minister.  We feel this is expansion through evangelism.  We are committed to what Jesus was anointed to do, preach the gospel to the poor, to heal the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, while setting at liberty those who are oppressed.   Thus through mission, men and media we attempt to fulfill this ministry outreach

Objectives of Mount Zion Outreach:

1. Preach the gospel to the bankrupt

2. Heal the brokenhearted

3. Proclaim liberty to those in bondage

4. Recovery of sight to the blind

5. Setting at liberty the bruised

Thus our outreach is to the spiritually and morally bankrupt, the brokenhearted, those who are in bondage mentally, emotinally, physically and spiritually, those who are spiritually and doctrinally blind and who are bruised through the oppressive nature of the world. 

Practical Operation of our outreach:

1. Mission

We support financially and through participation various mission outreach domestic and foreign.  Inclusive of but not limited to...

• National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Foreign Mission Board

• Lott Carey Foreign Missions

• Samaritan's Purse

• Faith Evangelical Seminary's Mission to the Isle of Tonga

• The Kenya Redeemed Church, Kenya, Africa

• IMANI (Faith) House for Orphans and AIDS Children, Kenya, Africa

• Support Missionary Lydia Crowder in Good News Clubs (domestic) and in Ghana, West africa (international)
  Mission Visitation and Helps Ministry monthly and quarterly

2. Men

The Men's ministry of Mount Zion has a quarterly outreach on every fifth Sunday of the year, ministering in area nursing facilities.  This ministry includes presenting the gospel through preaching, teaching and singing.  There are plans to expand this ministry to local prisons and detention centers.

3. Media

Mount Zion supports a weekly internet radio ministry, "That My House May Be Filled" (Luke 14.23) broadcast through www.wcanradio.com every Sunday morning and Monday evening. The Sunday morning broadcast is a live broadcast of our morning worship from 10:55 am til 11:55 am EST in the USA and reaches around the world.  The Monday evening broadcast, 8:00 pm til 8:40 pm re-broadcasts various messages preached from the pulpit of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church by our pastor Dr. Marcettes L. Cunningham, his preaching assistant Reverend Calvin Currie or guest preachers from around the country.

All out reach is designed to meet the missionary objective of having the Spirit of God upon us and being anointed to preach the gospel...Luke 4.18 in an effort to contribute to carrying out the Great Commision of the church in Matthew 28.19,20.
